How to Choose a Project Title for Your Amity Project: A Practical Guide
Your project title determines the scope of your entire report. Learn how to craft a specific, researchable, guide-approved title using proven formulas — with examples across MBA, BBA, BCA and other Amity courses.
Why Your Project Title Matters More Than You Think
Your project title sets the scope of your entire study. A title that is too broad makes research impossible to complete well; a title that is too narrow leaves nothing to analyse. A poorly worded title confuses your guide and evaluators about what the study is measuring. The right title signals to your guide that you understand research design — and makes every subsequent chapter easier to write.
A good Amity project title has three components: (1) the central concept or phenomenon being studied, (2) the target population or industry context, and (3) an optional time or geographic qualifier. Fitting these three into a concise title gives you a study with clear boundaries.
Title Formulas That Work for Amity Projects
These four title structures consistently produce guide-approved topics:
- Impact / Effect formula: 'A Study on the Impact of [Variable X] on [Variable Y] among [Population] in [Context]' — e.g., 'Impact of Social Media Advertising on Brand Loyalty among Urban Youth in Delhi NCR'
- Relationship formula: 'Relationship Between [Variable X] and [Variable Y]: Evidence from [Industry/Sector]' — e.g., 'Relationship Between Employee Engagement and Organisational Performance: Evidence from Indian IT Firms'
- Analysis formula: 'A Comparative / Financial / Competitive Analysis of [Subject] in [Context]' — e.g., 'A Comparative Financial Analysis of HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank (2021–2025)'
- Effectiveness formula: 'Effectiveness of [Strategy/Programme/Tool] in [Organisation or Sector]' — e.g., 'Effectiveness of Digital HR Onboarding Practices in Indian Start-ups'
How to Narrow a Broad Topic
Students often start with a theme ('digital marketing', 'financial analysis', 'employee satisfaction') and struggle to narrow it down. Apply the following filters in sequence: Industry → What sector? (FMCG, banking, e-commerce, healthcare). Population → Who? (urban consumers, Gen Z, SME employees, retail investors). Geography → Where? (Delhi NCR, pan-India, Tier-2 cities). Time → When? (post-pandemic, 2022–2025). Variable → What are you measuring? (purchase intent, retention rate, profitability ratio).
Example: Start with 'consumer behaviour' → filter to 'online purchase behaviour' → 'online purchase behaviour in fashion e-commerce' → 'factors influencing repeat purchase behaviour on Myntra among women aged 22–35 in Metro cities'. That final title has a specific population, platform, behaviour and demographic — it is 100% researchable.

Getting Your Title Approved
Prepare 3 title options before meeting your guide — this shows initiative and gives your guide something to react to. Present each title with a two-sentence explanation of what the study will measure and how (questionnaire with 100 respondents, secondary data from annual reports, etc.). Guides approve titles faster when they can visualise the research plan.
Once approved in writing (over email or signed form), do not change your title without informing your guide. Title changes affect the minor project, and a changed title after approval can delay submission and create administration complications.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
How long should an Amity project title be?
Aim for 12–20 words. Long enough to be specific (include your variables, context and population), short enough to be readable. Avoid vague openers like 'A Study on…' — lead with the actual topic if possible.
Can I change my Amity project title after the minor project is approved?
Technically yes, but you should inform your guide and re-submit a revised minor project if the scope changes significantly. Changing the title without informing your guide can cause issues at the viva. Minor wording changes (e.g., correcting a term) are usually fine.
What are the most popular Amity MBA project topics?
Popular MBA project areas include digital marketing effectiveness, employee retention and attrition, financial ratio analysis, consumer buying behaviour, ESG investing, supply chain optimisation, and startup/entrepreneurship studies. Popularity changes — choose a topic with sufficient recent research (post-2020) available in academic journals.
